정치 사회적인 문제로만 여겨지던 전쟁, 군사 이미지들은 동시대 한국 사회에서 다양한 계층이 부딪치는 일상적인 상황 안에서 다르게 받아들여지고 있다. 맹목적인 순종과 절대적인 믿음과 희생으로 연결 지어졌던 정치적인 이미지들은 잡지, 장난감, 상업적인 이벤트 등으로 일상 안에 개입되어 있고 자본주의적인 사회구조 안에서 다른 양상으로 변형되고 있다. 5명의 작가들은 각자 다른 방식으로 사진이라는 매체를 전략적으로 이용하고 있으며 사진의 대상을 이미지 안으로 끌어들이는 과정에서부터 아이러니와 수수께끼를 담아내고 있다. 그리하여 이들 작업에서 사진적 대상은 사진의 구조에서 뿐만 아니라 정치적 이데올로기, 자본과 문화, 상품과 상업주의에 의해서 가리워져 버린다. 또한 이들 작가들은 각자 상이한 관점으로 일상생활에 내재되어 있는 한국의 특수한 현실을 바라보며, 단편적인 이미지를 창출하는 데 그치는 것이 아니라 장기적인 프로젝트 형식으로 사진 이미지를 지식의 차원으로 발전시키고 있다. 이들의 사진은 단지 정보와 기록을 전달하거나 조형적인 감각만을 제시하는 것 뿐만 아니라 사진의 대상을 탐구하고 성찰을 통해서 감각적인 지식의 체계로 들어서고 있다. 

 

The images of war and military culture face diverse circumstances in ordinary life, which have been regarded as political and social issues. But they clash with individual and collective situation and are accepted differently in current society in Korea. Those images exist in the middle of ordinary life such as magazines, toys, and commercial events, which are not only regarded as blind obedience, absolute belief and sacrifice for the nation but also connected with capitalist structure and indifference of violence. Five participating artists use photograph in their own strategic ways to express irony and riddle inside the process of transferring objects to photographic images technically and contextually. For that reason, objects in their photographs are shaded by a structure of photograph as well as ideology, capital, culture, and commodity. Moreover, the artists do not only produce fragmentary images of a specific situation in Korea but also attempt to draw photographic images into the dimension of knowledge through a long term project based on research and observation. Their images are not just delivering information and documents rather stepping into the system of knowledge as well as presenting visual senses.
