노순택 NOH Suntag

노순택은 대학에서 정치학을, 대학원에서 사진학을 공부하다 멈췄다. 주요작업은 전쟁과 분단에 관한 이미지 수집과 말걸기다. 한국전쟁의 흔적뿐만 아니라, 거기서 파생되어 나온 현재의 사건과 정황을 눈여겨보고 있다. 한국사회에서 벌어지는 다양한 사회적 폭력과 갈등의 문제가 어떤 양상으로 반세기 전의 전쟁과 관계 맺고 있는지를 들춰보려는 것이다.

 

NOH Suntag has a B.A. in political studies and commenced his studies in photography at a graduate school before leaving academia. His main work involves collecting and communicating through the images of wars and the division of the Korean peninsula. He carefully observes not only the traces of the Korean War but also the current events and conditions derived from the war, in order to expose the way in which various forms of social violence in contemporary Korea are linked to the war of half a century ago.
